Weekend Wind-Up

September 16, 2013

Sunday wasn’t much to write home about; we puttered around the house and dealt with a grumpy, teething baby. Poor thing.

But Saturday we had great fun!

After Molly’s morning nap, we packed ourselves off and headed to a local farm about 1/2 hour east of where we live. In addition to a market that sells fresh, local produce and a bakery that sells home made goods, there was a kids fun farm area with all sorts of activities. Most of them were beyond Molly’s comprehension, but she had a hoot just running around.

They had apple picking, which I really wanted to do, but with us going away soon this isn’t the time to be stocking up on food. Maybe when we’re back…

She fell asleep pretty much as soon as we got back into the car and so A and I took turns popping into the shops running errands and then drove around looking at neighbourhoods we like until she woke up (we’re not moving anytime soon; we just like seeing what’s out there!).

Earlier that day A had suggested we find someone to watch Molly so that he and I could go out to dinner! I love impromptu date nights! They’re few and far between these days, making the ones we do have that much more special. My parents happily agreed to take her, and so around 5 we dropped Molly off and headed off to try a restaurant we’d never been to before. The food was decent. We had calamari to start, and then I had a really yummy fettucine with smokey sausage, red peppers, mushrooms and onions in a lovely tomato sauce. A had a steak 🙂 We bypassed dessert and instead picked up some treats from the grocery store on our way to get Molly.

Once we got her to bed, we settled in and ordered the new Star Trek movie On Demand. I’m a huge Star Trek fan. I freely and openly admit it! And though I know there are some who aren’t a fan of how J.J. Abbrams has revamped the franchise (coughmyhusbandcough), I really enjoy it! Action, adventure, a smattering of romance and Chris Pine as Captain Kirk. You can’t go wrong!

And there is our weekend, a good balance of busy and relaxing. Just the way I like it 🙂

Happy Monday!
