Weekend Wind-Up

August 27, 2013

I had three goals for this past weekend:

1. Buy a sound machine for Molly’s room. Our stairs creek horribly and our girl is a light sleeper. It often wakes her up when A comes to bed around 11pm.

2. Mop and vacuum floors and carpets.

3. Make pulled pork*

Happily, all three missions were accomplished!

The sound machine is safely ensconced in Molly’s room and seems to be working just fine. We have it on the white noise setting, which to me sounds like the noise on an airplane. That may come in handy when we fly in September…

I did get my floors mopped and carpets vacuumed, though with a toddler running around and still not the neatest eater, I wonder why I even bother.

And then the pulled pork. Oh my yummy! I used this recipe from Canadian Living , doubling the amount of sauce. I’m really glad I did that because the meat would have been too dry without it. I like a saucy pulled pork and I prefer making my own so I know the ingredients and amount of sodium involved. We bought some fresh buns, had grated cheese, coleslaw and sour cream as toppings, invited my parents over to partake and voila! A delicious weekend meal of pulled pork sandwiches.

And that was pretty much it! I continued with night weaning Molly. I did three days of no nursing before midnight and last night moved the time to 1am. It’s like she knows! Two nights in a row she woke at 12:06 and 11:56 and last night she woke at 1:20. She also woke at 11 last night but I cuddled her back to sleep with little fuss. We’ll deal with sleep training of some sort once I’ve weaned her from nursing in the night.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

*I just wrote pulled porn. Tee hee.
