Weekend Wind-Up

November 21, 2011

You know those weekends where you feel like you didn’t accomplish much but you actually really did?

That was our weekend. We did stuff and yet it was all kinds of relaxing at the same time and I loved it!

Since we had no commitments at all, we were free to do whatever we wanted! It started with a fabulous home cooked meal on Friday night: Spaghetti, Caesar salad and bread.

The past few weeks have been so busy and it feels like forever since I’ve spent time in the kitchen, so it was nice to just settle in and cook. After dinner A and I settled down to watch Captain America. It was good. I liked it, but was a little weirded out by the CGI effects of putting Chris Evans head on a wee body. Kind of alien-esque.

I confess that we spent Saturday morning inside playing our favourite computer game, Minecraft. But around lunchtime we roused ourselves enough to go out and start putting up our Christmas lights! We had to take a quick break to buy more lights, but they were up and working before the sun went down. So pretty and festive!

For dinner that night I roasted a chicken and we had chicken Caesar wraps and raw veggies. So. Good! So good in fact that we had the same thing for lunch on Sunday with the leftovers! (The theme of the weekend was Caesar dressing apparently)

On Sunday itself we had more game time and then we hung our new chandelier. When my parents moved, they bought a super cute chandelier from Costco to have up temporarily until they found one they liked. Since they recently sent their furniture off to be refinished and are not currently able to use their dining room, they decided to just give the chandelier to us!

It really makes a difference. Someday we’ll get a proper dining room set (currently using my parents old oak set from the late 80’s), but we don’t entertain all that much at the moment, so we’ll make do with what we have. There are other priorities on our wish list that will come first πŸ™‚

Once we hung that up we headed out to run a few errands and I gave A a tour of the houses I grew up in. Conveniently, they’re all within a 5-10 km radius, and all in the town next to where we live now, so it wasn’t that much of a trek! It was fun trolling down memory lane and seeing what they’re like now. The one place we lived in still has the same blue garage doors my parents painted them in the late 80’s/early 90’s!! (Well, I’m sure they’ve been repainted, but the colour is the same).

All in all, a fun yet successful weekend! And relaxing. Relaxing is good. Because from now until after the holidays, we’re insanely busy, spending time with friends and family.

I wouldn’t have it any other way since it’s my first Christmas ever in a relationship with someone and I can’t wait to spend it with A!!

Awwww πŸ™‚

Love your decor! We’re putting up our decorations next week and I can’t wait! We only get to do it every other year because we’re away the “other” years.

Hope you two enjoy your holiday season! πŸ™‚
