The Perfect Fit – Part 1

October 19, 2010

Here’s my theory on dating: it’s just like shopping. Seriously. What is shopping but trying things on until you find the perfect fit and make a purchase? Dating is the exact same thing. You’re essentially trying out a bunch of guys to see if they’re a fit for you. Sometimes they fit great, sometimes they’re misshapen and make your ass look big, but if you don’t try, you’re never going to buy anything.

There are so many things to consider when shopping, just as there are when dating:

  1. Where to shop (how to find dates)
  2. How to decide what to try on (who should you date)
  3. What to consider when you try things on (dating. Ugh)
  4. Making a sale (entering a relationship)
  5. Returning your purchase (breaking up)
  6. Keeping the piece for the long run (marriage and life long commitment)

I’m going to start a series of posts on these very topics. It’s an idea I’ve been toying with for a book, and I thought I’d try it out here first, as a way to flush out my ideas and thoughts. It’s not a proven method, just my way of coping with what is often a crazy and erratic experience.
