It’s disgustingly hot and humid in Toronto today. The only thing keeping it from being completely unbearable is the cool breeze blowing through. It hasn’t stopped the humidity from over-taking my hair though. I have a Farrah Fawcett type-do happening. Instead of curling softly against my cheeks, the layers surrounding my face have lifted up and out, as if I’m about to take flight. Sadly, nothing can control them. I suppose I’ll have to be an Angel for the day.

On Sunday I had an enormous craving for a Mint Oreo Blizzard from Dairy Queen. Recognizing it as a hormonal blip, I hoped it would pass (and honestly the only thing keeping me from going out to get one was that I didn’t want to get out of my comfy clothes). But today it came back with a vengeance, and sadly there is no DQ within walking distance of work. There is however a Cold Stone Creamery at the nearest Tim Horton’s, so I popped in and tried to recreate a mint oreo blizzard. The result? Not bad, but not the same. It hit the right spot though, so here’s hoping I won’t need the real thing!

I find it impossible to read my regular genre of choice lately. That would be the romantic thriller. I just can’t handle how un-realistic the romantic liaisons are. Call it being jaded, but they just won’t do. So I’ve developed a love of James Rollins, who writes these fantastic adventure novels. I picked up one at lunch, called Deep Fathom. The jacket indicates the story of the destruction of the earth, driving the hero underwater where he discovers a lost civilization. Perfect!
